Cabling Stepper Motors to Rose Engine Butler
GX-16/4 Plug
Cable Connector
The connector used to attach a stepper motor to the Rose Engine Butler system is a GX-16/4 female plug. This is sometimes called an aviation connector.
Cable Sizing
The cable between the Rose Engine Butler system and your stepper motor should:
- Have 4 conductors within the cable
- Be stranded - this is more flexible than solid wire
- Be 20 AWG (gauge) - This will ensure the wire can easily handle the amperage for the NEMA 23 stepper motors, and is easily soldered to the GX-12 connector
- Be shielded, with the shield connected to ground at the Rose Engine Butler box end only - this will help isolate the signal from noise which could be encountered in adjacent cables (e.g., for stepper motors)

If the motor is driving the operation in the wrong direction, the recommended solution is to reverse the polarity of the Scale (i.e., make a positive number into a negative number, or vice versa). You could also swap the A+ and A- wires, but that is not recommended. |
