Cabling Stepper Motors to Rose Engine Butler

The Rose Engine Butler system’s cable wire scheme is outlined in the table below.

If the motor is driving the spindle in the wrong direction, there are two options:

  1. Reverse the polarity of the Scale (i.e., make a + into a -, or a - into a +). This is generally the recommended approach.
  2. Swap the A+ and A- wires.

Cable Sizing

The cable between the Rose Engine Butler system and your device should be a 4-conductor cable, and the wires in the cable should be a minimum of 20 AWG (gauge). This will ensure the wire can easily handle the amperage for the NEMA 23 stepper motors.
