New Rose Engine Butler System Startup

These are the steps for getting your new Rose Engine Butler system started up.

*** 1 ****************************************

  1. Connect the display, keyboard, and mouse to the system.
Connect the power cord to an outlet.
Power the system on.

*** 2 ****************************************

  1. The Rose Engine Butler system should be set to autostart. Exit that program.

*** 3 ****************************************

  1. Power it on.

*** 4 ****************************************


WiFi Icon
  1. Connect to Wifi - click on the Wi-Fi icon located on the title bar at the top of the system. It is the one indicated on the image to the right.

*** 5 ****************************************

  1. Update the software on your Rose Engine Butler system. Open a Terminal Emulator window and enter this command:
bash REB_Update.sh
This program will download any available updates for the following,:
  1. The operating system (Debian)
  2. The anti-virus system (ClamAV)
  3. The LinuxCNC programs
  4. The Rose Engine Butler configuration
and then apply these upgrades to your system.
It is a good practice to reboot your computer after upgrading it. You can turn your system off and then back on, or enter this command in the Terminal Emulator window:
sudo reboot

Additional Notes

If you run the update program too soon after starting up your system, you may encounter an error. This is because the virus scanning is still running.

Wait 30 minutes and run it again. This should clear up any issues.
